About the book
During college, passionate mountain climber Feng Fan leads an expedition to summit Mount Qomolangma, where he becomes the sole survivor of an accident that leaves his four hiking companions dead. After he graduates, Feng Fan, who studied geology, decides to work on the open ocean—but, to him, being so far from the mountains is a punishment worse than death. Visitors from outer space haul up the peak of an oceanic mountain 200 meters taller than Mount Qomolangma. The world’s new tallest mountain once again ignites Feng Fan’s fervor for mountain climbing. After summiting the peak, Feng Fan enters a dialogue with the alien. Through their conversation, Feng Fan is finally able to forgive himself and lead a new expedition.
