Yang Weilin, pen name Memechai, was born in 1979 in Guangzhou, China. In 1998, he graduated from Guangzhou Arts Vocational School Number Two, and was hired by Shenzhen Cailing Animation Company to work in animation. During this time, he was invited to do a weekly comic strip for the Guangzhou Daily called Memeguchai. In his spare time, he also does toy design, art design, and book illustration. 

Beginning in 2007, he created many illustrations for the Walt Disney company, and was for a long time a regular contributor of illustrations and covers for Science Fiction World, then the highest-circulating science fiction magazine in the world. 

In 2012, he was invited to work on the graphic novel Wayward Sons by Red Giant Entertainment in the USA. In 2015, Delcourt group, the largest publisher of graphic fiction in France, contracted to publish the Da Qin series under the imprint of their Soleil publishing label. In 2017, he was invited by the famous French publisher Galenat to write Serving the Officials. In 2018, his teaching materials for comics, The Road of the Illustrator, was published by Renmin Youdian Publishing, and the same year, he accepted the invitation to adapt to graphic fiction the Liu Cixin story "Devourer".

Yang Weilin is an outstanding young graphic artist of China; with twenty years experience in art creation, he has a controlled style that keeps the flowers of art blooming in his heart, making him a prime example of the young Chinese art scene.
